New resident at Grange Moor!

Principal Euphonium at Brighouse & Rastrick, Mike Howley is the new resident
conductor at Grange Moor.
The Grange Moor Band has announced that it has secured the services of Brighouse & Rastrick's principal euphonium player Mike Howley as their new resident conductor.
The band believes that Mike brings a wealth of experience as both a player and soloist having worked under some of the worlds top conductors.
Grange Moor is also looking to the future with renewed optimism following its bitter disappointment at not being able to compete at this years Yorkshire area contest due to a lack of players. Whilst the band still requires a couple of seats filling (see Classified ads) they feel the appointment of this young and dynamic conductor is a massive step in the right direction.
The band would also like to publicly thank Kevin Wadsworth for all his help over the last few months.
Grange Moor Band Party 2007

"Just outside the prizes, Grange Moor, winner of the Yorkshire qualifier under Duncan Beckley, proved that it can stand its ground in any 2nd Section company. Another band that benefited from a good opening from the euphonium, it suffered from a bit of scrappiness in the 1st movement, but it bore all the hallmarks of control and good balance that we have grown to expect from the conductor."
Whit Friday 2006
The
band enjoyed a visit to the Whit Friday march contests in Tameside where they
played Punchinello. A great, if not a bit warm, afternoon/evening was had by
all and adjudicators marks indicated the band had a good sound.

2nd Section Yorkshire Area Champions 2006
Grange Moor Band has qualified to go to Harrogate for the 3rd year running, by winning the Yorkshire 2nd Section Areas. This is a fantastic achievement as the piece was extremely technically challenging. The win was achieved by 100% determination and shows a band that really do put the work in required.
